In term 3 our big idea is ‘Curiosity’. We have old artefacts like cameras, phones and radio’s in our classroom. They help us to be curious and discover new things.

In CBL we have been learning to ask open and closed questions. Closed questions are easy to answer and open questions have many answers and are more interesting to research. Here are some of our questions.
We can choose to research what we are curious about. You can think and create things. We are researching how to make a beyblade out of a bottle cap. We are also writing a procedural text on how to make one.

Hi everyone, in maths we are learning about fractions. We created a fraction wall to help us use the correct maths language. We have learnt about the numerator and the denominator. The numerator always goes on the top. The denominator always goes on the bottom. We have folded shapes into different fractions. We stuck them into our books and labelled them. Here is some of our work.
We also watched a video about fractions. It told us that fractions always have to have equal pieces otherwise they are not a proper fraction.

STOP THINK DO
Stop, think, do is about no bullying. It helps you to solve problems in the yard. You need to stop what you are doing and then think about whether it is a good choice or not. Then you do what you think is best. In our class we brainstormed times when we felt sad at school.
Then we role played different scenarios. The first time we acted out a scenario that did not end well. Then we performed the same scenario using the Stop Think Do technique.
Hi readers. Today we are going to tell you what 3F did on Science Day. First we did a sultana experiment. The materials included 2 cups, red food dye, tap water, soda water and some sultanas. We first got one cup and filled it up with tap water. We made predictions about what would happen. Then we dropped sultanas into the water and they sunk to the bottom. After that, we got the second cup and did the same thing but with soda water. Then we put some more sultanas in and they started going up and down. What was happening was the bubbles inside the soda water lifted up the sultana to the top. The bubble slowly popped then the sultana sank back down. The we added food dye for fun!
Our next experiment was a reaction rockets experiment. What we needed was bicarb soda, vinegar, soda, a balloon and a plastic bottle. So we first got our plastic bottles. Then we got a spoonful of bicarb and vinegar and we poured it in 3 times in the balloon. Next we put a small amount of soda in the bottle and strapped the balloons bottom to the top of the bottle and the vinegar dropped in and the bottle started to fill up and the balloon got bigger and bigger without popping.
Last is the third experiment that was really disgusting. We called it colour magic. We used 4 skittles, water, a plastic bowl and a sugar cube. Then we put the smallest amount of water in the bowl. Next we got 4 skittles and put all of them in the water. Last we put a sugar cube in the middle. We waited to see what would happen. The sugar pushed all of the colours of the skittles to the edge. Then it started to look alot like puke. Thanks for listening.
