Hi viewers, Today we are going to talk to you about Book Week. Book Week is all about encouraging everyone to read. On Tuesday the 22nd of August, we dressed up as our favourite book character. Then we had a parade to show off our cool costumes. We also had lunch on the cricket pitch because the sun was out.
On Wednesday we listened to children’s picture story books that have won awards and been shortlisted. We ate our lunch with our buddies and read our favourite books together.
On Thursday the 24th of August, we invited parents to join us for our reading session. We practiced our fluency by reading different plays and acting them out using reader’s theatre. Our parents joined in as well and it was lots of fun! We used our fluency checklist to help us reflect on our reading and how we could improve.
On Friday we had our cultural food celebration. Students brought in special dishes from their culture or food that they were curious about. Dishes included gulab jamun, rice cake, indian sweets and savoury dishes like samosas and biscuits. It was great to taste different foods we had never tried before!
