On Thursday, our parents were invited to our open morning so that they can observe what we do during our literacy sessions. We explained our independent reading stamina expectations and demonstrated what it looks like in our classroom (eg quiet, focused on own book, sitting in one spot). We had the opportunity to read to our parents and show them how we practise our reading goals. Later they helped us with our chatterbox activity based around comprehension questions.
In writing, we engaged in a simultaneous writing task where a group of 4 students took turns writing a sentence each to complete a narrative. The parents were involved too and we loved it!
