Relaxation in the classroom

At the start of each morning we participate in a guided relaxation session. This helps us to calm down and be ready for the day ahead. Sometimes we use it at different times in the day, such as before a test or after lunch. We usually use a program called Smiling Mind or even make up our own script. Have a look at some of our photos below.

Relaxation

Sometimes in the classroom we do relaxation when we need to have a break from our work. We listen to relaxing music or listen to Smiling Mind.

Our Community Garden

Garden update!
After our last harvest of kale and lettuce, we have planted new seedlings including tomatoes, cucumber, lettuce and carrots into our garden. We have worked hard to perfect the soil to give maximum growth to our veggies. We discovered that if we plant our seedlings on mounds, the plants will get maximum water without drowning. Hopefully in the next few weeks we will be able to share with you all our plants that have grown.

Year 3 Sport

Well done to all of the students in Year 3 for making Year 3 sport such a success. Classes have been playing against each other in a round robin tournament in various sports. We have just recently concluded our dodgeball competition and were amazed at the teamwork and good sportsmanship that everyone displayed. The results were:
5th place: Ms Guldon’s grade
4th place: Ms Huntly’s grade
3rd place: Ms Rae’s grade
2nd place: Ms Ashby’s grade
1st place: Mr Borrell’s grade

Congratulations to Ava Lingham from 3E and Jasper Mason from 3E for winning our good sport awards. Congratulations also to Mr Borrell’s grade and their inspirational leader (me) for winning the competition.

Mr Borrell

Friday Feast

Unfortunately not every Friday can be as fun as today. We had a great day ending our Book Week celebrations by learning how objects glide through the air and enjoying a Hogwarts Grand Hall themed dinner. As the photos show, the sugar hit some of us a bit harder than others!

Our Community Garden

It’s taken a while but we have finally finished our display for our garden. Firstly, we all made a tessellating pattern and then voted on the one we liked the most. This would become the background for our design. We then enlarged the design on calico and wrote “Our Community Garden’. Have a look at the finished result.

Making Slime

At the end of term two, the students in 3D and 3E carried out a science experiment of making slime. With just a few ingredients of borax powder, PVA glue and food colouring we enjoyed creating and playing with our gooey goodness!

The slime was so sticky that it wouldn’t get off our hands!

I made different samples including Minecraft and Terraria.

Videoing to London

In 3E we have been learning about our classroom community, the communities we live in and the communities we are a part of. We have created this video to send to St. Anne’s Catholic Primary School in London, England. 3E came up with 10 questions to ask Mr Simmons’ Year 2 class to find out about how their community and our community are the same and different. We are eagerly awaiting a response!
