Education Week – Open Morning

On Thursday the 25th of May, Aitken Creek Primary School had their Open Morning. The theme for the Open Morning was Rich Maths Tasks. 3B and 3D would like to thank Miss Georgiadis for running the Open Morning and all the parents and other staff that helped out.

We had to design and make a paper plane each. In our group we had to estimate how far our paper plane would fly and who in our group would have the longest flight.

We were lucky enough to get some help from some of our parents and our teachers.

Here are some photos from the day:

We had so much fun!

Footy Day Festivities

Students of 4D celebrated the end of Term 3 by donning their favourite footy team gear for the school’s annual “Footy Day” on Friday.

As part of Footy Day festivities, students of 4D and 4A researched the costs associated with a day out at the football. After deciding who was coming along with them to the game, students used their iPads to look up the cost of food, tickets and return train fares per person before calculating an overall total spend. The activity was a great lead up to next term’s mathematics unit on money.

Brimming with enthusiasm, Olivia Rendich said she thought the activity was very enjoyable while also allowing her to connect maths to the real world.

Enjoying the ACPS Footy Day were 4D students (from left) Sienna Petrov, Olivia Rendich, Blake Drury and Leandro Sawa.
